 Story

Genetic scientist [Sachin Khedekar], a researcher cum businessman is the father of conjoined twin Vimalan and Akhilan [Suirya]. Tara played the role wife of Sachin Khedekar, Akhilan and Vimalan are as different character as like chalk and cheese. While the former is good at studies and decent in nature, the latter is care-free man and when it comes to studies, he is very poor. Akhilan realises that there is something fishy about his father-owned company and smells a rat. This costs his life and he is killed. Th ivestigation handle by Akilan for the death ao Vimalan in russia, The Russian translator Anjali (Kajal Aggarwal), who was in love with Akhilan, falls for Vimalan and they set to solve the mystery.
Technically, S Sounder Rajan's cinematography is amazingly brilliant. He has wonderfully captured the best locales of Russia in his camera and his work in stunt sequences is appreciable. Harris Jayaraj's music is good but not best, as his tunes are not fresh. But the background score is good.

Review

Appreciate the team's Maatran for the faith in Tamil audience for delivering a truly international film without dumping down the scenes or dialogues.Maattrraan is worth a watch for Suriya's acting and some great groundwork done by K.V.Anand. Harris Jeyaraj's songs look great on screen . It is a fun ride till interval and in the second half there is a neat message told with lot of cinematic liberties. Suriya holds the film together as the script tends to waver towards the climax. By whole Surya's Maattrraan is good, not brilliant.
